Listed below are some guidelines for oxidation:
Oxygen almost definitely will all the time have a cost of 2-.
Hydrogen will almost definitely all the time have the cost of 1-.
Components that stand alone have the cost of zero (for instance, Cu has a cost of 0)
Components which have a cost displaying are that cost (ZN^2-, the cost is 2-).
Cl2=0
I-=-1
Cl-1=-1
IO3-= complete cost is 3-, the cost for O is -2 and the cost for I is -1. (-1 -2=-3)
