You cannot get free housing in Sims 2. You can get more funds to buy the expensive houses, however. So, lets say you want the Pleasant household to have 500,000 simoleons in order to buy the best. You use the cheat this way: familyfunds PLEASANT 500000
If I recall correctly, that is the formula. You may have to have the household selected it may or may not work while they are in the Sim BIn.
