But even then, before the human looking Olympians there was the Titans, and they didnt look human at all.
The Greek philosophers acknowledge that the gods dont have human forms, they are just pictured that way. The Greeks saw a link between Mind, Body and Soul, and so a physically perfect human body was reflective of a perfect soul and mind. This can be seen in the fact that Greeks had gymnasiums (physical) which were also schools (mental) which also served as shrines to the gods (spiritual).
Within us all there is a desirefor perfection. Were imperfect because of inheritance of sin. The Greeks worshipped pagan Gods so therefore in our imperfect minds we make images of what we can visibly see and superimpose perfection on the visible bodies. They didnt worship the true God Jehovah; and sadly like so many other nations prior to the greek empire, they worshipped multiple Gods. However the bible shows us there is only one true God Jehovah (Psalm 83:18). Being imperfect in nature and having faith merely in the things seen they probably made their gods perfect in human form due to all of the above! Whatever their reasoning, its in drastic conflict with the bible which tells us: Jehovah said to Israel: You must not make valueless gods for yourselves, and you must not set up a carved image or a sacred pillar for yourselves, and you must not put a stone as a showpiece in your land in order to bow down toward it. (Lev. 26:1) King David wrote: Jehovah is great and very much to be praised, and he is to be feared more than all other gods. For all the gods of the peoples are valueless gods. As for Jehovah, he made the heavens.1Chron. 16:25,26.
