now distribute the valance electrons by putting in the bonds and lone pairs. C ideally forms four bonds. N forms 3, and O forms 2. C is the central carbon. okay, so do this. H only forms one bond.

Step by step procedure on how I got this structure:

draw a C in the middle. to the left of that C, draw 3 bonds to other Cs, and to those other Cs draw 3 Hs to each of the Cs. to the right side of that central C, draw one bond to the N (since it already formed three bonds total to the 3 Cs). now from that N, draw 2 bonds to the O. Now you see every atom has the proper number of bonds attached to them, now everyones happy. Now youre not done yet. Distribute the last 4 electrons as lone pairs to the O. Now youre finished. Check by counting up the number the total number of electrons: bonds are 2 and dots are one. You should get 33, the total number of VEs. Well, I hope that helped cuz that was an ordeal to describe. I know its hard in the beginning, but practice makes perfect
